Within the first few minutes of the game Milly Potter finding herself with space to attack down the left side, getting deep into the Coventry half and creating attacking opportunities early, troubling Coventry’s defence.
Shrewsbury found themselves able to create many chances from passes over the top of Coventry’s defence. Their aerial defending ability being exploited to give Town plenty of attacking chances.
Coventry collecting themselves a free-kick in their first attacking run, it was whipped in from deep and finds the head of a Coventry player who knocks it forwards but ends up wide of the post.
Shrewsbury utilising the wings to trouble Coventry, with a run down the wing played back to Jess Walley on the edge of the box, she tries her chances with a long shot, reminiscent of last week’s goal but this one doesn’t trouble the keeper who collects the shot.
Jess Walley creating herself plenty of space on the edge of the box to support Town’s continuous attacks, in her space she’s able to try more shots from distance, they’re struck well and on target but the keeper so far denying and goals.
From another over the top ball by the visitors, Shannon Mcshane manages to get into the box with the ball, a low cross being played to Maddie Jones who easily finishes at the near post to give Town an early lead.

A through pass from Jess played Maddie Jones down the wing, she uses good footwork to manoeuvre between defender before taking a shot towards the near post, it’s a well-placed shot from close range but the Goalkeeper makes an impressive save to deny Maddie from her second goal. A truly impressive save from Coventry
Abbie Mcshane in midfield for Town spotting runs throughout the game so far and playing good passes to begin the attacking momentum, one such pass played Maddie through again, she’s able to get a good shot off but it’s saved and deflecting by the keeper, the parried shot drops to Shannon Mcshane for a close-range finish but miraculously the keeper had collected herself up again to make a second consecutive save.
Town on the offensive role constantly in the game, with Coventry not adapting there defending to stop the long passes, Town are able to break through again and in a moment of déjà vu a low cross Is played to Maddie Jones who calmly places it into the bottom corner of the goal, getting her deserved brace

A lovely display of build-up plays from the whole Shrewsbury team starting from Phoebe in goal with some well-placed distribution to the slow build up from the defenders all leading to Jess Walley playing in Libby Veitch, the pass looked to be just out of reach but with an outstretched leg Libby touches the ball past the defenders closing her down to be through on goal, she fires of a shot the looks to have thrown the keeper off but with an outstretched leg the keeper denies the goal.
Jess Walley again given the space on the edge of the box, she takes a touch to bring the ball into the box before striking the ball into the back of the net, extending Town’s impressive lead.

Coventry with another free kick, their first offensive chance after a borage of Shrewsbury attacks, they look to repeat the previous free kick with the ball whipped into the box and knocked on by a Coventry player, but this time Shrewsbury adapted their defence and Abbie Mcshane positioned well allowing her to clear the cross preventing Coventry from getting a close shot at goal again.
A corner for Town, they haven’t scored many so far from set-pieces, the corner is whipped in but cleared by Coventry, the ball is collected wide and played back into the box, it ends up at Captain Vikki Owen’s feet who controls the ball before finishing into the bottom corner extending Town’s impressive lead.

Momentum and possession now completely in Shrewsbury’s control as Coventry seem to have nothing left to give in this game. Jess Walley once again finding space to shoot on the edge of the box and does so, it’s a better struck shot but glides over the bar.

Mia Pugh and Kelly Williams brought on for Libby Veitch and Milly Potter
Anna straight of kick off creating some great attacking chances down the right side, her quick speed being too much for Coventry’s defenders to deal with.
Vicky Owen and Grace Layton have done well in the game, stopping any potential attacks from Coventry and not allowing and shots to be fired at Phoebe in goal.
Lily played through with another through pass, she’s given the space to try a shot as Coventry fail to press her, but the shot is directed towards the keeper who calmly deals with the shot.
An attacking chance for town sees the ball rolling freely in the box, Maddie blasts a shot wide which curled towards the post but ends up on the inside to give her the hat-trick.

So far this game a key component to starting the attacking momentum comes from Pheobe in goal, who’s distribution has helped assist in the constant borage of attacks from Town.
Lottie Etterley on for Grace Layton
A Well worked attack down the left flank sees a low cross into Shannon Mcshane’s feet she’s able to compose herself on the ball before shooting with a clean finish into the bottom corner.

Mia Pugh finding herself in similar space that has been available for Town this whole game she’s able to try a long-shot which flies towards the goal, unfortunately the shot is slightly high and rattles the crossbar but is collected and cleared once landed.
Shrewsbury creating chance after chance at goal, Lily Mcshane and Zoe Child testing the keeper in their own chances but a mix of impressive saves and hitting the post keeps Coventry from conceding any more in the game.
Town see off the rest of the game stopping any chance Coventry try to create, the defence of Town putting on an outstanding performance stopping the home team and giving Phoebe in goal and easy day.
