07/11/21 Post-Match Interview Tom Peevor – Coventry United Women
Following an impressive 6-0 victory over Coventry City Women, manager Tom Peevor shares his reactions to the team performance and looks ahead towards next Sunday’s Vitality FA Cup game against Lye Town Ladies.
Tom Peevor –
1) How are you feeling after that win and it being Towns first away fixture this season?
“Yes, playing away can provide different challenges. It was great to see the team play our way and get the job done.”
2) With this being Town’s first away fixture of the season, do you think this gave the team a confidence boost that they can get the results on away days as well as at home
“Absolutely, we have really good momentum at the moment. The challenge is to keep this going and to keep working hard.”
3) The team did well to control the game throughout the 90, how impressed were you with the team’s performance to stick to the gameplan?
“The game provided different challenges for us, we needed to work hard to break them down as they defended so low. Their goalkeeper also pulled off a number of good saves. It was good to see us keep control and have patience on the ball.”
4) Looking ahead to next weekend’s important game against Lye in the FA Cup, how important was it for town to pick up momentum from today’s win to carry them over to next week?
“We always just focus on the next game and that’s what we will continue to do. Momentum helps but we have to work hard in training to make sure we prepare the best we can.”
5) It’s not wrong to say that shoreline doesn’t reflect the chances created, were you disappointed with the chances that weren’t put away into more goals?
“Firstly, I’m really pleased that we created so many chances. We were also able to create these chances a number of different ways. The fact is we scored six goals and conceded zero. I cannot really ask more from the players.”
