This Sunday Shrewsbury Town Women take on Wyrley Town Ladies in the third league fixture this season. So far Town are unbeaten with high scoring performances, and look to continue that this weekend.
Harry Brown (Assistant Manager) has been a key part to the managing team of the Women’s team helping Tom Peevor with tactical ideas and training ideas. Harry previews his views on Town’s challenges of the club’s ‘bogey team’ that have managed to pick up results previously against the Blue and Amber team.
On the impressive start to the season and going into this Sunday’s game –
“We are confident going into the game, our start to the season has given us some momentum going into the game this weekend and now it’s up to the team to continue that and have another strong performance.”
On Wyrley being a ‘bogey team’ to Town –
“Yes in previous seasons we have always struggled when it comes to playing against them. However it’s up to the team to change that this weekend and with the team playing like they have been the past few weeks, i feel confident we can go and get the 3 points if we play to our potential.”
On the challenges Wyrley may bring to the team –
“In previous games they have tried to play quite direct and get the the ball forward quickly which caused us some problems but I think with the team we have season I feel like we are more equipped to deal with teams that will play against us like that. We will focus on playing our way and playing to our own strengths.”
On the team looking better and better each game –
“There’s been a good buzz at training which is always a positive going into the game on Sunday. With each game so far this season the team seems to be improving or fixing any small mistakes made from the previous game so hopefully that will continue and the positive results follow.”
On whether the team have the resources to continue this good run of form throughout the season –
“The squad has great depth and competition for places this season. Which has been key to our good start to the season. That will be key for us to be successful this year as players are pushing each other every session for a starting place. If the squad continues to maintain the standards they have set so far then I don’t see why we can’t keep this winning run going.”
