Having beat Telford twice already this season in league competition, the traveling Salop would look to continue this winning streak to see themselves qualify for the semi-final of the league cup.
Coming off the back of a defeat in their last cup game against Wem last weekend, Shrewsbury came into this game with the clear desire to stay in the league cup.
It would take some time in the first half for Town to begin controlling the game. With multiple shots at the Telford goal within the first 10 minutes Shrewsbury were keen and due a goal. It would be from an intercepted pass from Milly Jay that ended up playing Maddie Jones through on goal, with an easy close-range finish she taps the ball into the bottom right corner, past the keeper and giving Town the lead.
24’ – Maddie Jones
TEL 0-1 SHR
It wouldn’t take long for Town to capitalise on Telford’s vulnerability after the first goal had gone in. With a nice bit of build-up play from the visiting midfield leading to Libby Veitch with control of the ball, she plays a perfectly placed through ball, splitting Telford defenders. Zoe Child is on the other side to collect the pass before in similar fashion simply placing the ball into the bottom right corner doubling Towns lead.
29’ – Zoe Child
TEL 0-2 SHR
More chances would come for Town but no more converting within the first half. Town looking like the only team creating serious threats to the oppositions goal.
HALF TIME
Telford 0-2 Shrewsbury
The second half starting off where the first left off, with Town instantly threatening Telford’s defence. With all players for Shrewsbury playing their role extremely well allowing the team to create chance after chance.
It would be at the 10-minute mark where Town would score again after a strong wave of attacks by the visitors, Maddie Jones would be found with the ball running down the line ahead of any Telford defender, she’d cross the ball to the near post where Zoe finds herself and scores completing her brace.
55’ – Zoe Child
TEL 0-3 SHR
Unfortunately for Town they wouldn’t convert any other chances in the game, even though some quality opportunities were created by the team the score line would stay at 3 goals to Telford’s 0.
Another clean sheet for Town after a solid defensive display for the whole 90 minutes and credit to the midfield for winning possession starting off allot of the team’s counter attacks throughout the game.
