Shannon Mcshane previews Towns 2nd qualifying round match in the Vitality FA Cup against Westfields FC Women
Shannon has been a key player in the squad for the past few games, being towns penalty taker, she’s found herself scoring a couple goals already this season.
Last Round of the FA Cup Shrewsbury had to replay there game against Walsall due to a mistake of extra time being played when it shouldn’t have, Shannon looks ahead to this Sundays fixture and how town need to make sure extra time or penalties isn’t needed.
On feeling confident going into this next qualifying round-
1) I feel confident in the fact each player has their own individual qualities that they bring to the team week in week out, which has massively contributed to our successful performances. I think in regards to confidence , the team has been playing some lovely football, the strikers have been taking there chances and our defence has been solid, so we will take these positives into the game Sunday.
On keeping composed to take penalties when needed for Town-
2) I think anyone taking a penalty will be under a considerable amount of pressure, especially if that kick decides the teams outcome of the game. However I enjoy taking them and I hope to continue my scoring streak throughout the rest of the season.
On showing preforming more to the teams ability and showing the dominance the team is capable of-
3) Yes 100%, I think the last few games we have struggled a bit to dominate and control the first few minutes of the game, however we have been working a lot on our play in possession this week in training so hopefully we can take that into Sunday and start strong!
On the importance of her role in the squad in the style of play that Town play-
4) I think everyone has an important role in the squad, in regards to my attacking role I believe its very important that I link up well with the forwards and midfield so that we can create lots of opportunities at goal.
