Leane Rimmer on the right side for Town able to create opportunities to attack with her quick sprinting burst down this wing. This troubled Telford’s defence early into the game forcing the visitors to clear the ball out of play to halt Town’s momentum.
4’ – A corner for Town is played short but the second pass was intercepted creating a counter attack for Telford this would be Telford’s first attacking chance in the game, but it was easily dealt with by returning captain Vikki Owen to regain possession.
Telford find themselves forced wide due to the impressive positioning of Town’s players, with little options the Telford player tries a cross from deep, it goes across the goal but no one attacks it as it’s out of reach from any danger.
Town found themselves early in the game being able to create allot of opportunities for attacks down the wings, one such chance is created by Maddie Jones who manages to create herself some space in Telford’s half to deliver a ball across the goal, Zoe Child outstretches for the shot but the cross is just out of reach and goes out for a goal kick.
10’ – Another attack from Town troubles Telford, Maddie Jones holds up the ball in their box to then deliver another ball across goal this time a Telford defender is able to get a touch to try and clear it but instead ends up forcing a save from their own keeper to prevent the own goal. Town creating many opportunities to cause danger.
11’ – Maddie in the box again this time tries for goal from an awkward angle, the keeper parries it down but Zoe Child finds herself in the right spot to finish the loose ball.
Goal 11’ – Zoe child
1-0
Shrewsbury creating the only chances that look to be of any danger in the game as Telford just cannot get through the backline of Town to be able to test the goalkeeper.
Zoe making wide runs to create space for Shrewsbury, she played a nice cross into the box looking to find Lily Mcshane, the cross instead being collected by the Telford goalkeeper.
Shrewsbury managing an impressive passing display to keep control of the ball in the Telford half, with some good one-two passes, this led Maddie Jones to playing a good through ball for Libby Veitch to run onto, she kept running to get past the defence and make space for a shot but it’s at the keeper who calmly deals with it.
25’ – Free kick for Town, its deep in the Telford half and whipped in towards the box towards Maddie Jones, who chests it for control and has a clear close distance shot at goal but the shot ends up dragging wide, that should have been a second goal for Town.
30’ – Telford forced wide and with little chances, a pop shot from distance it tried and looks like it may trouble Pheobe in goal, but it ends up over the bar and in the top netting, that being the first shot from Telford so far.
Shrewsbury keeping possession deep in Telford’s half but can’t find the space to get a chance off at goal, Shrewsbury throughout this game being given space from the visitors to try and create opportunities.
Half-time time 1-0
Going into the second half Shrewsbury finding themselves unable to string together the final pass needed to get them through on goal, this causing constant losses of possession where they then have to track back to defend against the Telford counter attack, Telford with allot of players at the back causing allot of issues for Town when it comes to the final third of the pitch.
Abbie Mcshane finds herself from extremely deep in in the half and spotted Zoe Child making a run in behind the defence the pass is excellently weighted giving Zoe plenty of time to compose herself on the ball and finish into the bottom right corner, giving Shrewsbury a two-goal lead and a brace for herself.
55’ – Zoe child
2-0
As the game goes on the pace of the match slows down, this may have been due to the extreme conditions or the lack of press from Telford, but with Shrewsbury continuing to be unable to break down Telford’s defence.
Abbie McShane finds space from around 40 yards and tries a long shot as no defender goes to press her, the shot is hit well but the wind drags it wide, Longs shots looking to be Town’s best chance of scoring now as Telford keeping their composure in the defence.
Jess Walley with space now around 35 yards out, she, like Abbie sees the opportunity to take her chance from distance. This time the shot isn’t towards a corner but instead flies high and direct, the keeper having to backtrack to make a save but the shot tucks just under the bar and past the keeper, putting Shrewsbury three goals up against Telford.
78’ – Jess Walley
3-0
That goal definitely being the nail in the coffin for the visitors as they struggle to create any chances, but keeping up their impressive defensive ability to stop Town from breaking through on goal.
The clock runs down with possession changing back and forth with misplaced passes, but Shrewsbury see out the game to the final whistle to see themselves as the victors in the local derby and collect another three points for the league.
