On our Football Business Management Foundation Degree you’ll work with clubs and organisations to gain understanding and knowledge of management and leadership within football.

Prerequisites to Apply

  • BTEC: A BTEC grade profile of PPP-PP. This can be achieved from either an extended diploma or a combination of smaller BTEC qualifications.
  • A Levels: An A-Level profile of CD – DD.
  • Apprenticeships: Achieve an advanced apprenticeship (level 3).
  • Tariff: Other Level 3 qualifications are accepted for entry. A minimum of 56-32 UCAS tariff points will be required.
  • Access to Higher Education Diploma: 56-32 UCAS tariff points.
  • Non-UCAS tariff-based level 3 qualifications are also considered for entry. Please contact [email protected] to check your eligibility.
  • Work-Based: We also give equal consideration to applications who are currently in work and wish to apply to University College Birmingham. To apply, you must have a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, demonstrating management or supervisory duties. Your application must also include a reference form from your line manager supporting your entry to higher education. For further details, please contact admissions.

Exit Routes

Following completion of the two-year course, students can top up to study the BSc (Hons) in Sports Management through the University College Birmingham. Other exit routes include:

  • Further University and Degree Level Education
  • Employment

Course Content

How will I study?

  • You will learn through classroom-based lectures and seminars in the educational rooms based at Shrewsbury Town Football Club (SY2 6ST)

Who is it for?

  • Anyone looking to gain a career in the football industry, this is the course for you! This course allows you a variety of different career paths once you have graduated. You could gain employment in management positions, leadership, football business, finance, marketing and communications.

Teaching

  • The following is an example of a typical teaching week (up to 12 contact hours);
  • Smaller group teaching – 4 hours
  • On-site live project work/ applied learning – 6 hours
  • Tutorials – 2 hours
  • You will also need to commit to around 20 hours per week for individual study time
