Maddie Jones gave her immediate post-match reactions to the 4-1 win over Sandwell Ladies,
On scoring a hat-trick and a strong team performance
“The team performance really stood out today putting what we look at in training onto the pitch, we kept the ball really well which allowed us to dominant the 2nd half of the game. I think we need to start more alert to avoid conceding early and applying more pressure to us. I am obviously pleased to score a hat trick but feel that I can still improve areas of my game which I will look to continue to improve in training.”
On the chances created for more goals
“Yes, definitely. It’s good we are having the chances we had and that comes from the whole teams work rate, but if we can continue to score the goals needed to secure 3 points then that’s the main thing!”
On the team’s endurance and the advantage that gives the team
“Yes, I think it’s good that we have the opportunity to train twice a week as it definitely helps to improve fitness and work on how to keep the ball in possession. The other benefit is that we have strength and depth in our squad and that we can rely on the players on the bench to come on and do a job.”
On if the good run of form can continue
“I don’t see why not. If we continue working hard in training and games with the squad we have, we can definitely push on in the league.”
