Following the comeback victory against Port Vale to finish off Shrewsburys first half of the season. Midfielder Lily McShane reflects on to 5-1 away win and the impressive performance the team put in.

Lily has become a key player in the midfield of Shrewsbury, helping with her defensive ability as well as supporting the attacks in the creations of many of Town’s goals this season.

Lily McShane:

What’s your immediate reactions to the game?

It was a good win, to come back from a goal down and win 5-1 was class from the team especially in the tough conditions.

It was a game in tough conditions and the team were put on the backfoot with conceding early, how pleased were you with the team performance to get back into the game and take the lead before half time?

Yeah, very pleased, it was important we pulled it back before half time so we weren’t going into the second half chasing the game and putting more pressure on ourselves.

The team really stepped it up in the second half and showed their determination to not just win but prove themselves in the second half. Do you think the team’s endurance has been a big strength for them this season?

Yeah definitely, we’ve worked on our fitness since pre-season ensuring we can perform at high intensities for the whole game but having strong players on the bench helps massively as well.

Was this the perfect way to finish off before the Christmas break or do you think there was more to be desired before finishing for this half of the season?

I think we’re happy with where we’re at this point in the season, we’re top of the league you can’t get better than that. Ended on a high before Christmas. Now we’ll rest and go again in the new year.
