Following Towns tough 2-2 draw against top of the league Shifnal Town, Abbie McShane shares her reactions to the game and the challenges the team faced.

Abbie has played a key role so far this season, playing the defensive midfield role and also taking many of the set-pieces fro the team, her contributions has helped Town achieve the results so far this season. Against Shifnal Abbie was pivotal in countering the overly aggressive home side, winning Shrewsbury back possession plenty and even assisting the second goal.

Abbie McShane –

You’ll leave this game with a point against the toughest opposition this season, are you happy with the result today?

I think as a collective we’re disappointed with not taking the win; however, the conditions were physical and it was a battle today in which we battled for a point.

The conditions weren’t the best today and with a rougher opposition then ever faced before, do you think the team had to deal with challenges they’ve never faced before?

Yes, I think the opponents were more physical focused than playing good football, so therefore we had to be quick in moving the ball to open up spaces for chances in which we managed to do numerous times, just wasn’t clinical enough.

Shifnal played a 5-player midfield formation, Town haven’t had to face an overloaded midfield like that so far this season, was it difficult to adapt to this style of play?

Yeah, it was difficult as they had a good press with the 5-man midfield, however we managed to play football around them in which we got through. It was a compliment to us midfield in them having more as it shows we are a threat to them

What do you think the team can take away from today’s game now that they’ve faced the toughest competition in the league?

I think we can take away us playing football in keeping the ball and creating chances, with our physical ability to win the ball in all areas of the pitch to enable us to create, as we need the ball to create any chances
