Short Breaks

Help Your Local Community!

We want to provide opportunities to help individuals achieve their goals and realise their potential, but we can only do this with your support.

Our ‘All in Short Breaks’ offer aims to deliver a safe, active and inspiring environment for participants and families to engage with Shrewsbury Town Football Club.

Following consultation with our current ‘All in Short Breaks’ Group we have designed our new offer to be centred around a Shrewsbury Town matchday. The offer linked to our existing exit routes has the following aims:
  • Inspire children aged 5 – 12 to be more active
  • Inspire children aged 12 – 16 to be more active and gain leadership experience
  • Inspire children aged 16 – 18 to engage in leadership and volunteering opportunities
  • Reduce the barriers for SEND families to attend and watch professional football matches

About Short Breaks

Activity will be delivered from our Community Football Hub and centred around a matchday at Shrewsbury Town Football Club.
Activities offered will be centred around 3 groups:
  • 5 – 11-year olds – Primary
  • 12 – 16-year olds – Secondary
  • 16 – 18 year olds – Young Adults

The ‘Primary group’ will be offered a 90-minute sport and activity session delivered on a Saturday afternoon. On weekends where there is a Shrewsbury Town match, the children will be offered the opportunity to watch the match. The group will have access to a room to provide a safe environment for children who may need time away from the match and busy crowds.

The ‘Secondary group’ will be offered a 60-minute sport and activity group alongside an adapted version of our volunteer academy programme. The volunteer programme aims to offer an introduction to various roles available at Shrewsbury Town Foundation. The programme consists of three milestones: 25 hours, 50 hours and 100 hours. At each milestone, the volunteer will have the opportunity to gain a certificate or attend in-house CPD (Continued Professional Development) workshops which will be linked to the volunteering being undertaken.

Finally, the ‘Young Adult Group’ will be linked to our emerging Employability strand. The Young People engaged will again participate in the volunteering programme and assist in the delivery of the Primary group. The Young People will also have the opportunity to gain experience of other jobs within the Football Club centred around a matchday this could be assisting staff with the preparation of the pitch, facilities and other activities involved on a matchday.

All of the above groups will have clear progression routes either from one age bracket to the next or to other projects within Shrewsbury Town Foundation.

To attend, participants must be all-in registered with Shropshire Council. Click here to be taken to the registration page.

Shrewsbury Town Foundation also sometimes hold extended three-hour sessions during school holidays throughout mornings and may include special opportunities including stadium tours and visits from special guests! Please email us for more information about these.
