Coming off the back of a league winning victory against Walsall Wood, Town were back home to take on Coventry City Women. Previously in the season when Salop travelled to The Alan Higgs Centre, Shrewsbury were victories in a 6-0 victory. 24 weeks later and Town would look to finish in similar fashion.
Town playing a slightly alternative formation to the usual style seen throughout this year. Adopting a 3-5-2 formation town would look to throw the offence onto Coventry from the offset.
Two minutes into the game and a corner for Town would see Captain Vikki Owen easily finish a loose ball in the box to give Town an extremely early lead.
2’ – Goal Vikki Owen
1-0
Shrewsbury in complete control of the game, controlling possession in the Coventry half and threatening the visitor’s goal. With Coventry unable to settle with the constant pressure it was only a matter of when until another goal would break through for Town. With no surprise to anyone else it would be Maddie Jones who goes and scores once again for Town doubling the lead and scoring her 30th Goal of the season, an outstanding achievement!
20’ Goal Maddie Jones
2-0
Continuing for the majority of the half Shrewsbury would control and create constant chances for themselves, but due to Coventry’s impressive defending, stopping any strong shots going to goal, town would be unable to score for the remainder of the half.
Surprising though this wouldn’t be the same down the other end of the pitch as with just a few minutes left in the first half, Coventry would find themselves with a corner, with a mix up I the box the corner leads to a goal for the visitors. it wasn’t a pretty goal but Coventry wouldn’t care as this has given them the motivation to keep fighting in the final minutes.
43’ Goal Coventry
2-1
Minutes later, we’d unfortunately see a similar sight as another corner for Coventry isn’t defender too well, allowing a scuffle to occur which sees the ball trickle into the bottom left corner levelling the game at the half-time break.
45’ Goal Coventry
2-2

Milly Potter on for Kelly Williams

A big change in the squad and a big change in the game, as the team go from creating many chances but unable to convert most of them, to going on a goal scoring masterclass. It would take minutes again for Shrewsbury to score again as Maddie Jones regains the lead for the home side helping to settle any doubts the team may have had after conceding two in quick fashion last half.
49’ – Goal Maddie Jones
3-2
Libby Veitch would be next on the scorecard after some fancy footwork and some impressive dribbling ability, she’s able to break through the defence before neatly finishing into the bottom right corner of the goal on her weak foot. A brilliant solo goal for the young player giving Town a two goal lead in quick fashion.
54’ – Goal Libby Veitch
4-2
This dominant performance would continue for the whole of the half and Shrewsbury would. Put another 5 goals past Coventry with notable mentions to Zoe Child in assisting 3 goals since coming on at half time. Milly Potter for an excellent assist to Zoe from the left wing-back position.
Town seriously putting on a game of two halves as this second half truly displayed the prominent goal scoring and solid defensive ability the team have showed throughout this whole season.
