High scoring Salop in another dominant performance as the end of the season looms closer. With just four league games remaining to the season every point and goal meaning more and more in the solidifying of a first-place finish for Shrewsbury.

KICK-OFF

Shrewsbury starting the game off slowly working their way around Walsall players in an attempt to control the game.

Attempts at the Walsall goal would be created from the off but an unfortunate lack of clinical finishing delays Town taking the lead from some strong scoring opportunities.

The deadlock would be broken though. After Paris Schofield finds herself in space she tries her luck with a shot from distance, it looks to be a great finish set to go into the top right corner but unfortunately ricochets off the crossbar. Maddie Jones though collecting the rebounded shot and scoring the first goal of the game.

GOAL – 18’ – Maddie Jones

The chances wouldn’t slow down for Town now that the deadlock has been broken, constant through-balls to the Salop forwards giving chance after chance.

It wouldn’t just be the forwards that find themselves in space to have a go at goal, the midfielders from dominant build up play being given the space outside of the box to try their own luck at goal.

Abbie McShane would be successful in these spaces within just five minutes after the opening goal she finds herself collecting a goal after a thunderous strike from outside the box, out of reach from the goalkeeper and doubling Town’s lead.

GOAL – 23′ – Abbie McShane

Shrewsbury in recent performances looking threatening in the set-pieces having scored 4 out of 5 goals last weekend and only improving on their composure.

A loose ball from a Town corner would see Libby Veitch easily finishing the free ball to gather herself a goal of her own.

GOAL – 33′ – Libby Veitch

Walsall not being given the time to breathe with the ball before a Town player has closed them down to collect possession. The whole team on form and each individual playing their role to perfection to allow constant chances at goal.

Libby Veitch in control in her area of the pitch and with some clinical composure fires off a shot at goal, the keeper unable to make it to the ball before it’s in the back of the net.

GOAL – 40′ – Libby Veitch

With the goals flooding in as they are in this game it’s easy for players to become greedy and go for their own goals, but Town not changing their playstyle at all and supporting each other with passes for quality chance creation.

Libby Veitch thought who could go for goal to get herself a hat-trick instead playing the better option pass through to Zoe Child who with a low driven shot across goal manages to score her first goal of the game.

GOAL – 43′ – Zoe Child

Walsall looking to hold off Town until the end of the half but the relentless attacks of Salop proving too much as the in-form Libby Veitch scores one more within the first half. A blasted shot into the bottom left corner finishes Towns half off in style with six goals total and a hat-trick for Libby.

GOAL – 44′ – Libby Veitch

HALF-TIME – Shrewsbury 6-0 Walsall

Half time Sub: Mia Pugh on for Anna France

If three goals weren’t enough for Libby, within the first few minutes of the second half a nice one-two with Zoe sees the striker setting up Libby for an easy finish from close distance of the goal.

GOAL – 50′ – Libby Veitch

Salop not taking their foot off the pedal as Maddie Jones takes her turn to get back on the scorecard with a clean finish completing her brace

GOAL – 53′ – Maddie Jones

Substitutions:

The chances continuing for Town but the conversion of these chances not occurring as often now, with Walsall even having a chance off their own at the Town goal but goalkeeper Phoebe easily taking control and restarting the offensive movement for Shrewsbury.

Shannon McShane on for Libby Veitch

Lauren Jones on for Maddie Jones

A ball is squared across the box and finds substitute Shannon McShane and on a first touch finish, she cleanly places the shot into the bottom left corner. A sublime finish.

GOAL – 71′ – Shannon McShane

A great run down the left side by defender Kelly Williams would see her get in a good shooting position, the shot is unfortunately saved but substitute Mia Pugh finds herself on the other end of the loose ball scoring the second attempt.

GOAL – 85′ – Mia Pugh

It wouldn’t take her long until Mia collected herself a second goal as an unselfish Shannon plays a perfectly weighted pass through to Mia who from close range easily slots home another goal completing her brace within two minutes of each goal.

GOAL – 87′ – Mia Pugh

This would be the final goal of the game although Town would come close to more as substitute and return player Lauren Jones would have multiple attempts at goal, all of good quality but unfortunately would not convert into a goal of her own, one coming as close as hitting the post from some range.

FULL-TIME – SHREWSBURY 11-0 WALSALL
