For Town’s Final league away fixture they would face first time opposition this season Walsall Wood Ladies. With promotion guaranteed if the traveling Salopian’s can pick up just a single point it was set to be a battle as second in the league Walsall Wood wouldn’t give Shrewsbury an easy game.
Town kick off the game and immediately take control with instantly attacking the home sides half. After Walsall Wood take possession, the high pressing Shrewsbury force the turnover of possession instantly, Lily McShane winning Town the ball and spotting the keeper of her line tries her luck from range and neatly tucks the ball under the cross bar, out of reach for the goalie and giving Shrewsbury the lead within the first couple minutes.
2’ – GOAL – Lily McShane
0-1
Walsall Wood not thrown off by the early goal though sticking to their tactic and forcing errors out of the visitors. This would work out for them soon after conceding as after a missed header allows the home teams striker to quickly get a shot off, finding its way past Phoebe in goal and equalising the game is quick fashion.
7’ GOAL – Palmer
1-1
Either team would fail to create any more goals within the first half although strong chances would be created for Shrewsbury with a couple shots at goal for the visitors but a mix of good saves and shots just off target the scorecard stays level at half-time is blown.
*Goalkeeper Phoebe Carter unfortunately goes down injured and has to be subbed off due to the injury. We hope for a speedy recovery!

Lottie Etterley off for Libby Veitch
In practically the same fashion as the first half, Town would come out sprinting in the second half immediately putting Walsall Wood on the back foot to create a chance at goal. A ball played over the top to Lily McShane allows Maddie Jones to sprint ahead of her defender and be open in the box, a squared pass by the Midfielder to Town top goal scorer sees the striker easily re-gain the team’s lead within two minutes of the second half
47’ GOAL – Maddie Jones
1-2
Town in complete control of the game with string off passes being completed and great defensive work the visitors are able to keep the host on the back foot forcing them to create errors and allow Salop to capitalise.
This would be how Town collect their third goal as after a poor touch from a Wood player, the agile Libby Veitch sweeps up the ball and immediately sprints through a gap in the defence before unleashing a powerful shot into the top of the net giving Town a two-goal lead in this hugely important game.
65’ – GOAL – Zoe Child
The game would go on with Town comfortably controlling play not allowing Walsall Wood to break through the defence and threatening the home side’s goal.
Maddie Jones off for Zoe Child
Fresh legged Zoe Child instantly creating difficulties for the hosts as her speed and agility can’t be matched against the tiring players. After Abbie McShane brilliantly slides in to disposes Walsall Wood the tackle ends up playing the ball through to Zoe Child who blitzes past the defensive line to be one on one with the keeper, an easy low finish sees her scoring Town fourth of the day and with just Ten minutes left to the game surely securing the team promotion in the league.
80’ – GOAL – Zoe Child
1-4
What would come as a shock though would be minutes later when with a free kick from some distance outside of the Shrewsbury box, Baggot of Walsall Wood would pull off an outstanding free kick curling into the top right corner of Town goal.
82- GOAL – Baggot
2-4
Walsall Wood look to spur on their team with that goal, unfortunately for them though they wouldn’t be able to create another strong chance before the referee would blow for full-time and securing Shrewsbury Promotion in the league.
