For the third encounter in four weeks, Salop travel back to the BBG Stadium, where last time they guaranteed promotion in the league. This time though would be looking to qualify for the final of the League Cup to take on Shifnal Town Ladies on the 22nd of May.

After Considerable delay to the game due to an issue with the referee, and hour and twenty minutes later the game is kicked-off.

Town not looking thrown off by the delay to the schedule and are right on the offensive, high pressing Walsall Wood to force errors out of their players.

With Town in control of the ball deep in the Wood half, a defending effort gives the traveling Salopian’s a corner. Maddie Jones on the set-piece plays it short to Libby Veitch. A quick one-two has Jones with the ball on the edge of the box, after dribbling past a charging defender, she blasts a low driven shot that nestles into the bottom right corner. A brilliant set-piece to start off the scorecard.

It would take Town just minutes before they broke down the home sides defence again. Zoe Child picking up possession in the Town half and playing a brilliant through ball straight through the defence> Maddie Jones picking up the pass before slotting a shot into the bottom left corner past the out rushing keeper.

Shrewsbury Would threaten the goal a few more times in the first half but no more goals would be scored by the traveling team. The Town defence also doing a great job in preventing any danger coming to the Salop Goal.

Shrewsbury pick-up where they left off in the first half, immediately on the offence again.

Ten minutes into the half and Maddie Jones looks to be through on goal again, unfortunately she gets the ball trapped under her feet. The ball is kicked away from her but lands at the feet of Zoe Child who from the edge of the box, fires off a looping shot over the keeper.

Good chances would continue for Shrewsbury with Walsall Wood getting some chances for themselves too but neither would result to any goals.

It would be almost thirty minutes after Child’s goal before another goal would be seen in the game.

A throw in, deep in Wood’s half would see Libby Veitch gain control of the ball, before dribbling between players creating a one-on-one opportunity. She simply finishes the shot low and to the right of the keeper. Giving Town a four-goal lead in this knockout game.

With minutes left on the clock until full time Town wouldn’t be able to enjoy a clean sheet finish before a lapse of concentration sees Walsall Wood playing one of their players through. Who with an impressive strike blasts a shot into the top of the goal.
